Life Science is a diverse and exciting field with numerous technological and practical applications spanning academia, industry, medicine, and plant biotechnology. The Division of Life Science (LIFS) offers undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Cell Biology (BCB) , Biotechnology (BIOT) and Biomedical and Health Sciences (BMH).
The BCB program provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the fundamental principles and concepts of life sciences, whereas in the BIOT program, students focus on applying life science principles and developing the skills needed to contribute to the biotechnology industry.
The BMH program is NEW, starting in Fall 2025. This program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on laboratory experience in different advanced diagnostic and disease modeling techniques. Graduates will be well-equipped to serve in diverse roles in the healthcare system as well as in the local academic and public health sectors.
Students have the flexibility to switch between LIFS majors should their interests change.
We also offer a Joint School Undergraduate Program, Biotechnology and Business (BIBU) in collaboration with HKUST Business School.
In addition to gaining subject knowledge and academic rigor, our graduates will develop effective communication skills, the ability to learn independently, and a commitment to scientific integrity.
