The 3rd Hong Kong Inter-University Postdoctoral Symposium in Biomedical Sciences was successfully held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Lecture Theatre E, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The symposium was co-organized by the Division of Life Science, HKUST; the School of Biomedical Sciences, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK-SBS); the School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Hong Kong (HKU-SBMS); the Department of Biomedical Sciences, City University of Hong Kong (CityU); the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU); and the Department of Biology, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The organizing committee comprised Prof. TSUI Kwok Wing Stephen, Dr. AO Fu Kiu Kelvin, and Dr. TONG Ka Kui (CUHK-SBS); Prof. CHEUNG Chi Hang Martin, Dr. FANG Xiang, and Dr. LIU Yanzhi Yolanda (HKU-SBMS); Prof. GUO Yusong and Dr. LIU Yang (HKUST); Prof. LEE Kin-Wah Terence (PolyU); and Prof. LIAO Pan (HKBU).

The symposium served as an excellent platform for postdoctoral fellows from the six universities to present their research, connect with peers, and foster collaborations. The event attracted over 150 participants, including professors, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, and postgraduate students from all six institutions. An inspiring keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. YUNG Wing Ho (CityU), highlighting the latest advancements in neuroscience.

This year, a total of 46 abstracts were submitted, including 25 oral presentations and 21 poster presentations. The topics covered a wide range of areas, such as microbiome and metabolism, biotechnology, genetics and cell biology, neurology and age-related diseases, and cancer biology. We are pleased to announce the award winners for their exceptional presentations and research contributions:
