Dr. Chau Sing Rocky Law is an accomplished entrepreneurship educator, knowledge transfer professional, and biotechnology commercialization practitioner with over three decades of leadership experience spanning academia, industry, and startup ecosystems. He currently serves as Associate Program Director of the MSc in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Biotechnology (ELBT) at HKUST, where he contributes to academic leadership, curriculum development, and strategic industry engagement for the programme.

Prior to rejoining HKUST, Dr. Law was a Senior Professional Practitioner and Founding Program Director of the Minor in Science Entrepreneurship at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). Over six years, he designed, launched, and led HKU’s first interdisciplinary entrepreneurship minor, integrating science, technology, business strategy, intellectual property management, and venture creation. His work emphasized experiential and project-based learning, mentorship, and close collaboration with industry partners. Under his leadership, the programme produced numerous award-winning student startups, with graduates going on to establish ventures or join leading global firms. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to teaching and student development, Dr. Law received the Faculty of Science Teaching Excellence Award at HKU (2022–2023), underscoring his commitment to innovative pedagogy, experiential learning, and academic excellence.

Dr. Law has played a significant role in shaping Hong Kong’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. During his earlier tenure at HKUST, he served as Director of the Entrepreneurship Center and Associate Director of the Technology Transfer Center. In these roles, he contributed to the advancement of entrepreneurship education and practice, supported early-stage startups, helped build angel investment and mentor networks, and facilitated the commercialization of university technologies across biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and traditional Chinese medicine.

Beyond academia, Dr. Law was Director of Praxis Green Consulting Limited, advising startups and growth-stage companies on intellectual property strategy, technology commercialization, product-market fit, and fundraising. His industry experience further includes senior R&D and management roles at Amoy Food Limited (Danone Group), where he led research, product development, and process innovation projects across global teams in the United Kingdom, France and Shanghai.

Dr. Law holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering and an MSc in Biotechnology from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UK), a BSc in Chemical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), and an MBA (EMBA) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was a founding member of several professional and industry associations and a co-founder of the Hong Kong Business Angel Network, and continues to actively mentor students and advise startups across the region.

Dr. Law’s educational philosophy centers on experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and bridging academic research with real-world innovation. Through his leadership roles at HKUST, he is committed to nurturing the next generation of biotech leaders capable of translating scientific innovation into sustainable commercial and societal impact.
