Professor Lau is currently a Professor in the Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his medical degree from the University of Hong Kong and is certified by American Board of Paediatrics and Paediatric Nephrology. Professor Lau is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and London. Prior to his appointment at HKUST, he has served as the Associate Dean (Faculty Affairs) at Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Associate Residency Program Director at University of California, Davis, Chief of Nephrology at McMaster Children Hospital, Medical Director of International Medical Center at the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital and Raffles Hospital in Shanghai. Professor Lau was the awardee of various scholarships such as the Accredo Pediatric Scientists Award, SSCI Nephrology Young Investigator Award, Carmel Scholar Award and the Eli Gold Award.

Research Question

Professor Lau has a wide research interests related to kidney diseases in children, including the management of immunosuppressants after allograft kidney transplantation and bedside measurements of total body water in children.
